Eva Hild is a ceramist. She was born in 1966 in Sweden, where she currently lives and works.
Her stoneware sculptures are finished off with a coat of silica. They are internationally celebrated for their organic forms. Her work plays on numerous contrasts such as fragilty vs strength or presence vs absence,  and reflects her various influences.
Hild's stoneware sculptures are hand raised, over a long period of time, which allows the artist to gradually work over the desired form. When the form is complete and the stoneware has dried out, Eva Hild gently smoothes the surface out. The pieces are then fired twice before a layer of paint is applied.

"My sculptures are bodies, exposed to pressure and movements. Influence, pressure, strain. These words have been the foundation for my current projects that comprise communicating the theme in large, hand-built sculptures. Delicate continuously flowing entities in thin-built clay. They reflect varying degrees of external and internal pressures, and how, as a consequence, perception of inner and outer space is changed or challenged".
